A New Way of Thinking

Hi,

A lot of effort in the IT industry today is focused on architecture, be it Technical, Information, Business, Application, Enterprise, Service Oriented, and any hybrid inbetween. Billions of dollars have been spent on these domains in many companies with little or no success. Why?
What is the real reason value for money was not delivered by the so-called domain experts?

The answer (IMHO) may be broken down into these comprehensive as possible reasons:
  1. People who claim to be domain experts are not domain experts.
  2. The appropriate amount of money was not invested to realize the expected outcomes or the transformation project or program was terminated partway through- yes quality costs money.
  3. The appropriate follow-through was not executed - basically the project was dropped before anything could be realized.
  4. The client organization really was not sufficiently mature enough to understand the impacts of the indicated change.
  5. The impact of change was not well articulated.
  6. Project or progam plans were not developed with achievable goals.
  7. ...

Service Oriented Architecture and any of the other architectural desciplines are basically about design. The "how" so to speak.

A new way of approaching architecture is required and we believe it is Strategy Oriented Architecture, where the combination of business acumen, domain expertise, intuition and wisdom all come together to create strategic thinking by design- vision and mission based on wisdom.

This blog and its related sites will focus on "The New SOA".

We hope you like it,
